A Remarkable Life

Glenn Hill Cornwall

I have thought many times over the years that I should write the history of my father, Glenn Hill Cornwall.  The older I got, the more impressed I was that I needed to do this.  During his life, however, Glenn did not go out of his way to make this an easy project.  Glenn talked so infrequently about his past and when he did, he was a man of few words. Even if he had provided more stories and information, it is not a trivial task to try and capture on paper someone’s life, especially when that person is your father. I want to specifically thank my older brother, Craig for being persistent over the years in either recording dad’s thoughts and memories or encouraging him to put some of his memories on paper. These have been invaluable, and I have incorporated them into this work whenever possible. The interested person should consult Stephan Cornwall’s excellent history,  The Agony and Ecstasy of the Cornwall Family which covers Glenn’s parents and siblings.

It is my sincere desire that this biography not only provides an accurate representation of the facts and events of his life, but also in some measure convey the kind of person he was.  I miss him very much and have wished on numerous occasions that he were here to share the joys, trials and successes of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Most importantly, I wish he were present to give me a hug, which always instantly conveyed a thousand words of love and acceptance.
